Cavalcade of Lights - November 26, 2005
Laura and I went to Nathan-Phillips Square in downtown Toronto to see the Cavalcade of Lights, the first lighting ceremony of the Christmas lights. The general ceremony was led by the “Ice Queen” who reminded me of the witch from The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe… except that she had a gown of Christmas lights, staves that shot sparklers and fireworks, and a pole behind her that shot out giant plumes of fire. As she toured around the square, the lights lit up behind her and there were periodic performances, including a bunch of guys spinning fire and stuff. At the end, the giant blue tree was lit and there were fireworks enough to level Racoon City Hall. Afterwards, we stopped by the Eaton Centre, for warmth, and it was all prettied up, too.
