a sporadic self-chronicle since 2001

Straight out of bed (with dreams of playing the game) to playing World of Warcraft with my guild, working on the last part in the long series to get my key so I could go to the raid on Onyxia tonight. It took us four hours and at the end, there were five of us needing this final drop and only three of the items dropped. Someone decided it was most fair if we all randomly rolled for it and I rolled a 1 out of 100. Fucking great. So me and another mage who had planned out Saturday nights around killing a dragon didn’t get the drop so couldn’t finish the key and therefore couldn’t go to the raid tonight.

Worse still, of the three guys who did get it, one is only level 59 so he can’t go to the raid and another wasn’t even planning on coming tonight. What a waste. And I had been looking forward to it so much, too!

But this is not the end of my issues with this run. I didn’t get a single item. The whole time, people were getting various things and I got nothing. I missed rolling on a great ring that added +1% chance to score a critical hit with spells and added mana regen all because my brother called to ask me about burning a music file to CD.

Then, at the end, a green item dropped that was an upgrade for me but after asking twice inthe raid chat and whispering once to the master looter, I wasn’t given it. Instead, it went to be sold or disenchanted. Or something.

So after that, I was pretty bummed. Not mad, but a little frustrated and just overall disappointed that I couldn’t go to kill the great dragon, Onyxia.

On the plus side, a pair of [Magister's Gloves] dropped last night for a group Shawn was working in and they saved them for me. Sweet! Two pieces of that set in as many days.

Cora wasn’t feeling well earlier this evening so I walked to the store and picked her up some stuff for her stomach as well as chicken soup and a couple food items for Shawn and I. When I returned, I made Pillsbury Crescent rolls for dinner (for Shawn and I) and then Cora [who was now feeling better], Stephen, Mike and I went to Galaxy and saw ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.’ It was great - just what I had wanted. I wondered what parts they would put into a movie with finite time constraints but they did a good job. It was a good sci-fi comedy and we all liked it - even Cora.

Afterwards, there was general talking here and then Stephen drove home to Cambridge.

Ryan and Melissa had planned on doing dinner out and a movie but somehow none of their plans worked out and they didn’t see any movie and made dinner for themselves around midnight.

Oh, and my guild’s raid on Onyxia went well. Maybe next time I can join them.

I’m going to go ahead and strenuously object that the things that happen to you on WoW are interesting….
