a sporadic self-chronicle since 2001

Seems Shawn and I are on our own this weekend. Cora went to her parents’ place on Thursday and Ryan and Melissa disappeared this morning. Recently Melissa’s been pretty sick so she and Ryan have been lounging around the place. Hopefully she’s getting better.

Had a bit of a sleep-in today, then got up and called the parents. I updated them on news of my employment and such. Apparently they like to be “in the know.”

The guild raid this afternoon went well. We had pretty high dps going for us and for some reason I was rather hyper. It was weird.

After dinner, Shawn and I went out to Chris’ keg party. I thought I was pretty cool for going when I’ve only known the guy for like three days but whatever. That’s just me convincing myself I’m unböring.

We walked down Albert, near University and got in just before Chris cut off the flow of people. He numbered the cups and our hands to match, just to try and keep things organized. At work he had told me how he had plans of keeping it all rather strict. No shoes in the house, only so many allowed outside at once so we didn’t attract too much attention etc.

There were all kinds of people there and they were mostly younger. Like 17-20 or so. Shawn and I talked with a few guys here and there and once we finally got in the house (there were lots and lots of people there, cramming the back yard and house), we hung out by the keg.

As for people taking off their shoes, that didn’t happen. The tile floor was a met, muddy mess. They had at least covered their carpets with cardboard first, so the tile shouldn’t’ be too hard to clean.

Shawn and I had a few beers and some guy said hi to me as if he knew me. But looking at him, I thought, “Man, that looks like Kyle Lawler” the younger brother of my old friend Nick Lawler from St. Thomas. Their family moved to Waterloo the year after mine moved out to BC.

Anyway, it was him and when the cops came to break the party up, he invited me over to his cousin’s place down on Columbia to hang out with him and Chris (Kyle’s older brother, but still another younger brother of Nick). I said bye to Chris (the guy from work) and then Shawn and I took off with Kyle.

As he left the party, Kyle tried taking a cup of beer and a 2L (mostly empty) of whiskey with him but the cops were on the front lawn and started following him. When Kyle noticed, he just dropped both and kept walking and after a bit the cops gave up and went back to the party.

We walked there with some 16-year-old friend of Kyle’s as well as some girl named Felicia. She was also young, but not 16 young.

So we met up with Chris Lawler as well as their cousin and hung out for a while. Smoked up a bit on the lawn and after a bit Chris and Kyle wanted to head over to Louie’s (which is apparently called something else now) for last call but got about 3 houses down before it started to sprinkle rain and both were so far gone that they gave up. Kyle came back on his own and then me and this other guy went and grabbed Chris to bring him to the house where he passed out in one of the rooms (the guy who lives there, the cousin Lawler, just moved in so all there is in the house is toilet paper, a stereo, beer and a kitchen table). Kyle passed out on another bedroom floor and Shawn and I walked home.

As Shawn said, it wasn’t anything overly fantastic, but it was more interesting than most of our evenings.
