a sporadic self-chronicle since 2001

Convocation was today for all my math/CS friends. I handing out Real Life 101 books as is my usual during convocations (it’s easy money). So I got to be there to see them grad and I was even paid for it.

Afterwards, Cora and I caught up accidentally with Joe and his entourage in the SLC. We hung out there at that reception for a bit and then Cora went home and Joe and I went to SJU to meet up with the others.

Kim Fiscallini was at the entrance to the thing at SJU and wanted to know who we were with. I couldn’t understand why it mattered until I looked over and realized it wasn’t just some reception - it was an actual luncheon where all the grads had their own table with guests. Ugh. Such unorganized party crashers we are.

So we said we were with either Dennis or Stephen, whoever had the fewest guests. Turns out that was Stephen. Joe only stayed for a couple minutes but I remained and chatted with Stephen and his parents as I partook in the free lunch.

I also chatted with Dennis and Mr Ruth a bit and then Stephen and I came back here. There was a bit of a gathering at Mike’s for a bit during which he demonstrated the pyramid-scheme knives he’s peddling, and then I came back here and took a nap.

The guild raid went sour for Shawn and I as our internet flaked out on us. However, this was actually good as it meant we could head over to 111 and partake in drinking with others. I brought my giant bottle of beer and Ryan came with me.

There was drinking, the girls (Jill and Kathleen, who is apparently friends with Jill now) grabbed Shawn, I grabbed Cora and we headed off to Kick Off’s. Cora took off before we got there, though. I had to double back for a bit but eventually got back to join the fun.

Drinking continued and afterwards we returned to 511 (so 111 and 105) to pass out.

the closer we think we are
