a sporadic self-chronicle since 2001

Last day at work. Whatever.

Remember that whole made in China thing? Heidt gets desktops from China and when we build shit, we scrape off the Made in China stickers and put on others saying Made in Canada.

The reason, of course, is that the stuff we get from the Chinese is cheaper and lower quality. The owners can earn more money by using cheaper materials and as long as the customer doesn’t know about it, they don’t complain.

Apparently it’s happened where a Made in China sticker made it out and a customer noticed and complained. They figured if the company was using cheaper stuff, they shouldn’t be paying the same high price for it. The company outright lied to them, saying they had no idea how such a sticker could have appeared. I definitely wouldn’t buy their overpriced crap if I were shopping around for school furniture.

Had a relaxed evening of TV and then World of Warcraft late into the evening while watching movies. Even then, I fell asleep playing. Ha, tiredness.

Earlier this week was a damn good week for my World of Warcraft guild. We were stuck on the second boss of Blackwing Lair for a long time there but we finally beat that bitch Vaelastraz and then the next boss, the Broodlord. Very cool. After the slowness of the summer and being stuck on that guy, things are feeling good again in the guild… which is nice.

and disappointing you’s getting me down

hahahahahah, i love how this is your “last day of work” entry. the kind of secrets that can get you outright fired if you’re still employed :P

i hope you guys are able to continue getting vaelastraz week after week. negative progress is the worst, i don’t want to see that happen to DA. i hope firemaw dies soon for you also. i don’t think he’s as hard as vael.

that is horrible…. what kind of social responsibility is that?! i remember your other entry….and maybe it’s just because of the paper i recently wrote on corporatism but…. that kind of thing shouldn’t be tolerated throughout the entire company. o_O

Yeah, I know. Another thing is that they have this “standard of quality” but only when things ship out to the USA. If it’s going to Canada, they’ll ship any old thing.

Once again, this is strictly a business thing: If a customer in the US complains, it’s expensive to get a replacement to them. In Canada? Not a big deal, just send a driver to stop over and drop off a replacement on the next run in that area. So Canada gets the poor quality stuff because it’s cheaper to fix if they’re ever called on it.

oh my god…. i can’t believe what you are subjected to… that you have to deal with such hypocrisy…. and i can’t believe this company is getting away with being so socially irresponsible!!!! (then again, i’m sure there are countless companies out there doing the same types of things, but i just don’t know about it).

….this is why i never want to own a company..because the minute it gets big enough and you have to start relying on other people to help you run it, the more susceptible it will be to corruption like that…

    O_O
