First day without work but between travelling to Toronto with Dennis and Alison, watching some Tekken 5 at Funland, seeing Laura, meeting up with Joe, Mike, Stephen and Dennis, going to the concert and the concert itself… I really didn’t care.
The concert… was friggin great – we all really liked it. Well, Dennis is hard to read so I’ll just assume he enjoyed it, too. The rest of us did for sure. Trent Reznor’s really great live – such a talented musician. He played for about two hours, which was nice. Played almost every song I would have wanted him to. There were maybe a few he didn’t but he did such a good job on the others that I definitely came away satisfied. Hell, he could play whatever selection he wanted to and I’m sure it would have been just as fantastic. Or, you know, play every song he has and make us die from 15 hours of excellent live music.
Definitely ranks in my top three concerts. The other two being the first Tragically Hip show I saw and the last Matt Good show I saw, at Elements, in Kitchener. No idea what order I’d place those but all of them fantastic.
Oh right, and omg Trent’s arms are huge.

Just before playing Dead Souls, Trent mentioned that ours was the fastest selling show on the tour and thanked us for showing up in such fucked up times.
Seems like they played songs for everyone. They played Pinion as in intro, which always makes me think of Dennis. The Perfect Drug, which I didn’t think they played live, made me think of JJ and Head Like a Hole brought about memories of Mike and that chick in red latex at Phil’s.
As for the opening bands, Death from Above would have been a letdown if I had expected anything at all. They really weren’t all that impressive and seemed to lack talent and any coherence to the noise they created.
Queens of the Stone Age were pretty good. Once again, I wasn’t expecting much but I did enjoy them. While I was having trouble staying awake for Death from Above, the Queens kept me awake and interested.
NIN was better, of course. But how could they not be?

They played Perfect Drug? I don’t remember that one, sure you are thinking of the right song? They did play Something I Can Never Have, I think that is rarely played, and man was it good.
November 18, 2005 @ 9:46 amyou know, it’s hard to tell from that picture that his arms are huge – they don’t look al that significant. only seeing trent’s head, and having no comparison, it’s hard to judge though.
i remember seeing edwin, and thinking he was HUGE, then i’d see picture and he looked normal sized until he was beside someone that was actually normal sized
November 18, 2005 @ 12:14 pmThe picture isn’t even from that concert. Pretend his arms look hige and his head is shaved.
And yeah, Mike – I probably am thinking of Something I Can Never Have. Still something I associate with JJ though.
