I have this fear of blowing up TV shows to be spectacular, or larger than life. What I mean is when I really like a show (Lost, Carnivale, Battlestar Galactica…), I want others to watch it and appreciate it. So to convince them, I start telling them about how much I liked the show. But I’m worried that I might push too hard and blow it up so their expectations are too high. I try not to, I really try to avoid it. I try and do more of a “Hey, I really like this show and think you will, too” but then often I’m SO into the show that I can’t stop talking about it and therefore end up putting it on a pedestal.
Laura and I finished season one of Carnivale today. Man, I know season two is way better, but season one is really cool, too. It’s slow to pick up and you spend a lot of it not sure what it’s actually about or who’s good or evil but when it gets going, it’s so damn good. Especially at the end. The way the season ends? So fantastic.
Now, we’ve begun season one of Lost. I picked it up for $30 at Zellers and also got Metroid Prime 2 for $20, the Hip best of album for $10, the 3-pack of Jurassic Park movies for $20, and F.E.A.R. for $30. Boxing week sales can certainly offer good deals, but they suck considering you just spent all your money on Christmas proper.
I got a Christmas card from JJ and Jenn today, which was a cool surprise. The card itself was a traditional boring one, but the comments were nice. Keep in mind, the upper part is by Jenn and the lower part is by JJ (yeah, it’s nice being reminded that his writing is worse than mine).

The Christmas break where we almost died. Yeah, but which one in particular?

I like how “you” picked up the stuff on boxing day… by means of me buying it for you and you paying me back. Silly boy, pretending you actually do your own dirty work.
