a sporadic self-chronicle since 2001

Late start to our day, but we walked over to Sobey’s for back bacon and made that and pancakes with blueberries, raspberries and strawberries for breakfast.

It was delicious.

Dennis gave me a ride home and I played lots of Darwinia. Some of my Darwinians have Santa hats!

Also, they were jumping for joy because I’m so cool, which was flattering.

Darwinia is such a cool game. The graphics, while retro, are still beautiful to look at. I’m not sure how to describe the game play. It’s a real-time strategy, based on what those words mean. Usually I think of an RTS as something where I build buildings, use those to create units and then attack an enemy’s units and buildings. It’s not exactly that and it’s not different in a way that exists just to be different. It’s different and it works really well. So it’s not entirely new and it’s not all recycled, either. But it works, it’s fun, it has depth to it and it’s challenging without being impossible or frustrating. It’s just damn fun.
