Last night I watched ‘Superman - The Movie’ for the first time. It was new to me, except for the whole flying around the world to make time go backwards stuff, which was somehow familiar to me, probably mentioned somewhere in pop culture.

There were a couple things that bothered me but one more than the rest: When he goes back in time… suddenly things just happen differently. The ground doesn’t open up and swallow Lois’ car and there isn’t rubble falling down all around her. But the Man of Steel didn’t actually DO anything to change events. One might presume he stopped the second missile from hitting and it just happened off screen, but Lois still talks about the gas station blowing up behind her and having to dodge falling telephone poles - events that were caused by that second missile hitting. How can they get away with that shit? It’s fucking Superman! Fuck.

In a meeting this morning, upper management finally admitted to my supervisor that they fucked shit up this year. Apparently it was one of those conversations that was like, “Okay, so we really fucked ourselves here - we promise we’ll listen to you now, what can you think of to help us out?” As they were talking about ideas, upper management asked Joe (my supervisor) if he could ask me to change my vacation plans. He said if they really wanted me to, they’d have to ask me themselves.

It’s so dumb, too. When I put in my vacation request, three months ago, I was working in patio but still “belonged” to the school department. So it was school who decided when I could take my week off. Laura and I would have preferred to go to BC later on (like in August) but that’s the busy time for school so they wanted me to take my time off earlier. Of course, now I’m working in patio and their busy time is right now. So things could have worked out well for everyone if only they had gotten themselves organized earlier, just switched me over to patio when I was working there and given me time off in August instead. Stupid company.
