Laura, her mother, sister and her friends are heading to a cottage for the week so I helped them pack up for that this morning.

Then, in the evening, I helped Ryan and Melissa with their wedding invitations.
Shawn finally returned with his car. His brand new Jetta…. which he’s had for two days and has already put 388km on it. Also, it’s full of sand.
Laura bought me the movie ‘Happiness’ for my birthday. I had heard that it was deeply disturbing and such so that’s why I wanted it without having seen it before. I watched it tonight and without giving things away, the subject matter is unpleasant but I wasn’t disturbed. It deals with a number of people from a child molester to a phone pervert, to a guy who makes up stories just to sleep with women. I guess I was expecting something… worse. Not to say that child molestation isn’t terrible.
Actually, the worst part of the movie was that as this molester is trying desperately to drug this kid, I felt bad for him (the adult) when the kid kept not wanting to eat anything. I was just thinking, “Oh god, just eat the damn sandwich kid. Come on!” I guess I wasn’t really thinking about what the being drugged was going to lead to. I mean, I knew what it would lead to, I just wasn’t thinking about it. That whole rooting for such an evil bad guy without thinking about it… that was the most disturbing part of the movie.
I also finished watching all of Roswell. I enjoyed the series, but not as much as I once did. Part of it is that the music is different, and remembering the way it used to be makes me dislike the less good new version. Another part is that I’ve matured enough to be bothered by the immaturity of the show itself. Season three does a lot to disengage from the high-school drama but the show still isn’t a mature sci-fi show like Battlestar Galactica is. I guess after seeing something as great as Battlestar, other sci-fi dramas pale in comparison.
Still, I enjoyed Roswell. It was a cool show and I’m glad I own it. I’m also fine that it ended when it did. Any longer than three seasons might have dragged on.
