The #2 guy has resigned. Next Friday will be his last day. When I was told, it was attributed to his wife’s due date (for her pregnancy, not for expiry) being early December and that being a big stress. Sure, that’s probably part of it, but I know that he just hates the way things are going down here. Certainly can’t blame him.
It’s getting pretty ridiculous how many jobs everyone is doing as people leave the company and aren’t replaced. Him leaving means a lot of the customers who used to deal with him (American ones, mostly) will be exclusively on me. Super.
I finished updating my resume this morning and updated my job profiles on LinkedIn and Workopolis. I then spent an hour and a bit searching through job listings in multiple different places.
The #2 and the owner sat down with me this afternoon to get a feel for what the customers are saying and how they’re feeling. Regular order cancellations, late deliveries and unknown delivery dates have most of the customers displeased but I’m doing my best to handle it all. Supposedly they understand that. The owner told me he really wishes he knew what was going to happen to us. He thinks another week and a half to two weeks before we’ll have to say we’re going out of business, unless we’ve been bought by then. Nice.
