Having beaten Quake 4 and StarFox: Assault in the past two weeks, I’ve returned to The Windwaker.
Tonight I have moved on to the ‘world tour’ that I’ve read so many complaints about. I currently have to collect the 8 pieces of the triforce, which are scattered hidden around the 7×7 world map. Of course, that wouldn’t be frustrating enough. As best I can tell, I first have to locate 8 maps telling me where to find each of these 8 pieces.
Lots of travel. Lots of hunting for random things. Super.

you really need to explain the 7×7 map thing a bit better. something like each area of the 7×7 map (so, there’s 49 areas in total) is an area of ocean. like a big fucking area of ocean. i’ve seen my brother play this, and if i had to guess, i’d say it takes 2 to 4 minutes just to sail across ONE of these areas… jerome can probably give a more accurate time estimate on crossing an area.
it’s not world of warcraft huge, but it’s still pretty damn big. it is a lot more empty though.
January 24, 2007 @ 4:25 pmit is incredibly empty. yes, it’s a 7×7 grid, so 49 squares across the world. most of it is water and it takes maybe 3 minutes to sail through a square.
each square has one island in it. that’s it.
most of the islands are tiny (you can run from end to end in under 5 seconds, no exaggeration) with the exception of perhaps 5-8 which are larger and have dungeons on/in them.
the tiny islands may or may not have hidden holes on them which allow you to drop down to secret underground areas where you can get extra powerups, heart pieces etc.
so having to search through each of these tiny little islands for maps and triforce pieces took fucking forever.
