Laura and I watched ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’ this afternoon. While we both enjoyed it, we were definitely expecting it to be more… magical. We were expecting a story that took place in a magical realm or something but instead the fantastic elements were more of a b-story to the civil war that populated the bulk of the movie.

Oh, it was still good. I was simply expecting something else and the brutal violence of the civil war was… less than desirable.
Also, Laura was terrified by the faun which I thought was really cool. The only exception being when he handed the girl a piece of chalk. Between the pronunciation of the Spanish word for chalk and the tone in which he said it, it was just funny.
