a sporadic self-chronicle since 2001

At the end of every day, for our first two weeks on the phones, we have a one-hour meeting in which we discuss things we’ve learned during the day which might benefit others. By the end of work today, half of us were crawling out of our skin, wanting to get the hell out. The strict leader person was off on a management call so only the easy-going guy was there and we knew if we could get things done quickly, he’d let us go. Jamie and I tried to get people to be efficient and not tell pointless stories but some of them just wouldn’t stop talking and telling stories. Sure, we each were forced to talk about one call, but others went on and on and asked questions of others and then volunteered more stories relating to others’ stories and I wanted to just run through the plate glass window.

A lifetime later, Laura and I caught the bus to Toronto. It left Kitchener at 5:10 and we pulled into the downtown Toronto station at 7:40. *Groan* Laura and I only just barely caught the bus and ended up sitting across the isle from each other. We talked the whole way and got some Mario Kart DS in, but it was less than ideal.

We had been planning on heading to Mike and Jill’s for eight, but since we only arrived at Laura’s place by then, we took an extra hour for Laura to relax while I picked up some energy drinks and a pizza (healthy dinner, I know).

Mike and Jill’s was fun, as usual. We talked and caught up for the first while until their real estate broker came over to update them on goings on.

After he left, we decided to have a game of Ticket to Ride, a board game Mike bought back in November or December and has wanted to play with us since then.

So we played and it was awesome.

Laura won in the end but even with my third place finish, I completely enjoyed myself. In talking about it with Laura, we think it’s because there are personal path-building goals in the game. So even before we counted up everyone’s end-of-game points, I felt completely satisfied and accomplished because I had fulfilled my destination tickets.

  1. Red = Laura
  2. Yellow = Mike
  3. Green = Jerome
  4. Blue = Jill

Laura had a clear, brutal victory and Mike’s second-place score was way past the close race for third.
