I started into American Gods last night when I got home from Dennis’ and just kept reading. I had no idea what it was about, just that it was by Neil Gaiman and so I should read it. I like approaching books with no idea what they’re about.
On our way to Dennis’ last night, Jamie hit the McDonald’s drive-thru so I could grab some dinner since my shift was over and it was thus dinner time. While going thru, as it were, the drive-thru, we got to talking about how we both worked at McDonald’s Restaurants thru *ahem* high school.
I guess it was on my mind a little longer than just during the conversation because I had a dream last night where Jamie, Sarah and I all got part-time jobs at McDonald’s together, working shifts opposite our rotation at Rogers. It made sense since the three of us have the same rotation of which weekends we have to work and which weekdays we have free from work. So we all applied and got hired at this McDonald’s really easy since Jammer and I [I just came up with that, more on this later] actually worked for the chain before and Sarah worked her way up to manager at a Wendy’s (true story!). We also all managed to get the exact same shift which had us working at Wendy’s every single day we weren’t scheduled to work at Rogers.
And somehow we were looking forward to this.
I think it’s because it was one of the smaller Restaurants and we got to run it just the three of us. Which was pretty cool. Though… in hindsight, it would be tough with only three people during rush hours.
Another source of the dream material might be that yesterday Laura was telling me about trying to avoid part-time jobs this summer because then she’d have to have two jobs - which is never any fun.
Oh yeah, back to the nickname. I just decided Jammer is a great nickname for Jamie. The general process of its origin would be:
Jamie > Jams > Jammer /=/ A Collaborator
[Yeah, that was a geeky reference but whatev. This next part is even geekier...]
Last night I picked up my Tri-Force screwdriver from Dennis. Now I can open Nintendo things!

I decided to test out my new toy by opening up one of my GameCube controllers and all the keys fell out. I thought they’d be stuck or fixed in place or something but when I took the case apart they just spilled out all over the table.

I know you’re really concerned right now, but it’s okay - the controller is currently alive and happy again.
