Heroes
Five Years Gone
After last week’s .07% I was thinking how cool it would be to just zip five years into the future and continue the story from there. Assume the bomb happened, it was inevitable, so just move on. From the previews of tonight’s episode, I thought it might be pretty cool. I’m a fan of darker stories so having all kinds of people die in the past was… acceptable.
However as the episode went on and everything was just fucking terrible in the future, I was okay knowing that it wouldn’t be like this forever.
And I knew right from the “previously on Heroes” that in the end, this wasn’t the future that would result. I had sort of thought about it last week but in the “previously on” tonight, where they had the voice over of Isaac Mendes telling Sylar how he was showing the others how to stop him as he handed the last issue of the 9th Wonders off to be published, the one where Hiro and Ando go to the future, I put it together that the entire episode would be them going to the future and discovering how to stop Sylar.
Still, the jump to five years in the future, as dark as it might have been, was wholly excellent. It was well done and believable. I loved that Niki and Peter hooked up. I loved that Sylar killed and was impersonating the senator-turned-president. I loved that Mr. Bennett was helping hide other heroes and I, of course, loved that Claire’s hair was now brown. Mmm… Claire.

So while it was damn cool, I’m completely okay with them not continuing on with that possible future. If only we could get Claire to dye her hair regularly…
