I and most of my fulfillment class got sort of promoted at work. Because of our progress in sales, they’re transferring us to the converged sales team. Same base pay, higher commissions and higher potential for commissions: Instead of order-taking from 3rd party dealers (where they get the commission), all the calls that the system thinks are people calling to order stuff go to us. Our training started today but we’re working 4pm-midnight for the 6 or 7 days of training.
We had a potluck today. I made a garlicky bean salad:

Everything was pretty damn good. The person in charge of beverages wasn’t able to make it so we were parched but the food was delicious!

After that, began the training. The reason we train from four to midnight is because from 8 - 4 there’s a different class in the room so each day we have to wait for them to finish before we can get in there. So that’s less fun.
The training itself was pretty boring. A general overview of the wireless billing application and informational stuff about wireless, since we’re all just cable trained so far. A bunch of TDMA, GPS, GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, G2, G3 stuff. Sadly, the trainer had no idea when the company will be bringing the iPhone to Canada.

So today’s material was all pretty boring. At “lunch” (at 8pm), we broke back into the pot luck food.
An extended break at 10, during which a group of us traveled together to a nearby Tim Horton’s and my brain didn’t retain much after that. Don’t think it was important - just that general overview of the new application we’ll be using. Whatev.
In those last 40 minutes, I looked across the room to see Aysun and Sarah were both barely awake, sick of our trainer, no longer paying attention and looking like they wanted to die. 4 to midnight is the stupidest time to train ever.
Came home and chatted online…
