This morning, Laura and I went to Canadian Tire and bought a car-top carrier. We actually got the same one my brother JP had:

It was so huge that when we brought it out to her car, we couldn’t fit it into the car. We had to take it out of the box, squish it into the trunk, and then Laura collapsed the box to get it in the car while I doubled-back to buy bungee cords to secure the trunk relatively closed.
When I returned home from work, Laura was here. She had retreated from the oppressive heat of her parents’ place and packed up all our DVDs into two giant boxes. We then spent some time playing with the car top carrier. Turns out, we both fit inside 18 cubic feet of space (though the pictures of that didn’t turn out). Also, it fits on top of the car:

So that’s good. After verifying that it would work, we started putting some of the pieces on, because we’re nerds and enjoy that kind of stuff…

Oh yes, that’s right: I brought out the safety glasses and the giant screwdriver.
