a sporadic self-chronicle since 2001

Dennis and I drove to Ryan’s place in Oshawa around noon today and we caught a late-afternoon screening of ‘Sunshine’ at some theatre in Scarborough. It was definitely worth the extra driving - it was a fantastic movie. The characters were all very realistic and I cared about each of their fates. Good writing, excellent acting, good story and all kinds of awesome visuals.

Good science fiction shows what humans can and will do in interesting “what if?” situations. The movie starts out with an impossible premise, that must be accomplished under the worst circumstances, and then turns a cool, varied cast of characters upon it… all in space.

Overall, the movie was all kinds of awesome and if you enjoy good thrillers, and perhaps enjoy (or do not mind) a sci-fi setting, then you should definitely see it.

Afterwards, we returned back to Ryan’s place, hung out, picked up some beer and eventually picked up Joe at the Go station.

We hung out all night, playing games and watched some Arrested Development while we ate. We spent over an hour trying to decide on dinner and in the end, we went with our first idea (pizza) that Joe had been adamant against and after an hour of arguing, decided he wanted.

When we were tired and ready for bed, we played an hour of Bomberman on the Virtual Console. It was a good time.
