a sporadic self-chronicle since 2001

Let me tell you a story about Laura’s friend Matt:

Now that he’s done his aerospace engineering degree, he’s currently working for Bombardier in Toronto. But before he landed that job, he had an interview for a government job. I guess their standard procedure is to test the hell out of potential new hires so when considering Matt for an engineering position, they called him in to write the test to show what he knows.

Matt shows up, sits down to write the test and in looking over it, realizes that he doesn’t know how to do any of it because it’s all electrical engineering questions.

So what does he do? Does he fake it and hope for part marks?

Nope. In big, bold letters on the front of the test he writes,

“You’ve got the wrong guy. Don’t call in an aerospace engineer to do an electrical engineer’s work”

…and then he hands in the test to them and leaves.
