Blindness
Very cool movie but kind of depressing and one scene in particular was a bit brutal. Still, I really enjoyed the movie. It’s a really cool thought-experiment on how people would react that also happens to have really good writing and acting. The characters behave pretty realistically. Bottom line is that it is worth watching.
Also, [...]

I Am Legend
Alternate Version
I really liked I am Legend in the theatre and was pretty exited to bring the DVD home and find an “alternate version of the movie.” It’s pretty much an alternate ending but with extended scenes earlier in the movie to set it up. In fact, the main points of the alternate [...]

Last night, Laura and I watched this Anthony Hopkins movie Slipstream. It’s actually written, directed by and starring Anthony Hopkins. And it’s fucking crazy.
The movie’s only an hour and a half but Laura and I had a hard time getting through it. The movie’s about a writer who is writing a murder script but he’s [...]

Apparently Ontario’s having quite the winter storm right now. My brother in St. Catherine’s says he shoveled his driveway three times today to keep up with it. 50cm expected. Ouch. Here, it was warm and sunny. I biked my bike over to my place from where it was staying in my sister’s shed, across town. [...]

30 Days of Night
I didn’t manage to catch this in a theatre but bought it sight-unseen and tonight Laura and I sat down to watch it. You know what? It was worth the cost of the DVD just for the creepy vicious little girl vampire. Children are always the worst.
The vampires that appear in this [...]

Laura and I went to see ‘Sweeney Todd’ tonight.
I must not have paid attention to the commercials I saw on TV because I hadn’t realized it was a musical. So… those first few minutes of the movie were rather interesting.
Now I’m not really “into” musicals. Musicals, in my mind, are equal to ‘Grease’ and that [...]

Went out and saw ‘American Gangster’ tonight with Kris, JJ and Jenn. It was a pretty damn good movie. Not my favourite genre but still highly enjoyable. Very long, though. They could have cut out 30-40 minutes of Russell Crowe and it would have been better. Sure, establish that he wasn’t just some ordinary cop, [...]

Laura and I went out and saw ‘Across the Universe’ tonight. I’m not usually into musicals, but this was really well done. I really loved it and would recommend it to anyone who watched the trailer and thought, “yeah, maybe.” The only down side is that it’s fairly long (the actual movie is just over [...]

Dennis and I drove to Ryan’s place in Oshawa around noon today and we caught a late-afternoon screening of ‘Sunshine’ at some theatre in Scarborough. It was definitely worth the extra driving – it was a fantastic movie. The characters were all very realistic and I cared about each of their fates. Good writing, [...]
