Western Canada Road Trip, Day 6
Golden, BC to Kelowna, BC - 412 km
Have I mentioned that the car has been pretty heavily loaded-down all this time?
Also that there is a labor-shortage in BC?
Laura and I arrived in Kelowna around mid-afternoon today. We unpacked the car really quickly (with the aid of various family members), throwing [...]

Western Canada Road Trip, Day 5
Moose Jaw, SK to Golden, BC - 947 km
Laura and I got off to an early start this morning as today was our longest drive of the trip, pushing straight through Alberta and Banff National Park.
Salt?
…Found in the mens room of the Alberta tourist station just inside the Alberta/Saskatchewan border.
Saw [...]

Western Canada Road Trip, Day 4
Winnipeg, MB to Moose Jaw, SK - 660 km
Laura and I got off to an early start this morning. Not so necessary, as it seems it was our shortest day of driving.
I think they keep bees here.
Yep, still flat.
Speaking of which, Laura and I have discovered an interesting phenomenon here [...]

Western Canada Road Trip, Day 3
Thunder Bay, ON to Winnipeg, MB - 727 km
This morning our shower didn’t work. A call down to the front desk had the woman telling me it was ‘tricky’ but that it did, indeed work. It didn’t. Eventually, she came to check it out herself, agreed it didn’t work and [...]

Western Canada Road Trip, Day 2
Sault Ste Marie, ON to Thunder Bay, ON - 702 km
Laura and I drove through fall this morning. I’m not sure why but just north of Salt Ste Marie, all the trees had begun to turn already.
Oh yeah, and we kept passing signs with that evil monster thing on it. [...]

Western Canada Road Trip, Day 1
Kitchener, ON to Sault Ste Marie, ON - 743 km
Laura and I left this morning around 9:30am. It was raining periodically and mostly overcast all day. Dull weather’s really not that great for keeping you interested and alert.
Some of the interesting things we passed today:
Jackknife Motel (oh sure, I’d feel [...]

Port Stanley Vacation
Day 5
I was pulled from rest this morning and voluntold to make blueberry pancakes with the mother while Laura and Louise went for a run. I’m told this turned both my mother and I into “grumpy pants.”
Behold! My nieces and nephew!
JP and his family left, Laura and I hit the beach briefly, showered, [...]

Port Stanley Vacation
Day 4
Up and off to the beach this morning…
When we came back, Jason had to head back home since he works tonight, and tomorrow and the day after….
Laura’s mom and Aunt Anita came later in the afternoon to visit, as did nearly all my relatives on my father’s side. We all met up [...]

Port Stanley Vacation
Day 3
This morning, Laura and I went for a walk to get Laura-food. On our way back, we stopped at the LCBO and picked up Fusion Grenades:
I guess they are just pomegranate drinks, but whatever.
Upon returning, we rushed off with the brothers, dad and Jared to head on a train ride.
Kind of a [...]

Port Stanley Vacation
Day 2
This morning I went golfing at the Port Stanley Bluffs with Louise, Geoff, Heidi, her husband Wayne, Jason and dad.
Most of the family went to the beach in the late morning, at which point dad went to the store and bought a few cases of Coke. Tragedy averted. Apparently we’re kind of [...]
